Hosting and technical access data

This website is hosted by Checkdomain GmbH, Große Burgstraße 27/29, 23552 Lübeck, Germany. As our hosting provider, Checkdomain processes data required to provide, operate, and secure the website. According to Checkdomain, its data centres are located in Germany. When you visit the website, this may include your IP address, the date and time of access, the URL requested, referrer information, browser and operating-system information, and technical status data. This processing serves to deliver the website, troubleshoot errors, and protect against misuse and attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Technical logs are retained only for as long as necessary for these purposes and are then deleted unless they are required to investigate an incident or pursue or defend legal claims. Processing by Checkdomain is carried out under the hosting agreement and the applicable data-processing agreement.

Contact form and email

When you contact us using the contact form, we process the information you provide, including your name, email address, subject, and message, in order to read and respond to your enquiry. The message is forwarded by email to our mailbox at GMX. Please provide only information necessary for your enquiry. If your enquiry concerns a possible engagement, we process the information to take steps prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Other enquiries are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to your message (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We retain correspondence for as long as necessary to handle the enquiry; statutory retention obligations and the need to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims may require longer retention. Providing the fields marked as required is necessary to submit the form. You may alternatively contact us directly by email.

Comments

When you leave a comment on a post, we process the information you provide, such as your name, email address, and comment, as well as your IP address and technical information generated during submission. Your name and comment are published on the website; your email address and IP address are not publicly displayed. We use this information to provide the comment function, prevent misuse, and detect spam. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a secure and orderly comment function (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Comments generally remain visible until we delete them or they are deleted following a justified request. If you select the relevant option in the comment form, WordPress may store your name, email address, and website address in a cookie so that you do not have to enter them again when posting another comment.

Embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos

Some blog posts contain videos from YouTube or Vimeo. The video is technically requested only when you actively enable playback. When you activate a video, a connection is established to the servers of the relevant provider. This may transmit your IP address, device and browser information, the page visited, and information about the video being viewed. The provider may then use its own cookies or similar technologies. Where possible, YouTube is embedded using the privacy-enhanced domain youtube-nocookie.com; this does not prevent all data transmission. The providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Further information is available in the privacy policies of Google/YouTube and Vimeo. If you do not want data to be transmitted to the relevant provider, do not activate the video. Playback is enabled only after your explicit selection; where consent is legally required, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG.

Language switcher and translation service

The language switcher on this website uses the GTranslate translation service. When the page is loaded, a script is retrieved from cdn.gtranslate.net. When you select a language, content from the page you are viewing may be transmitted to GTranslate and its technical service providers for translation. Your IP address, browser and device information, and the page visited may also be processed. GTranslate Inc. is based in the United States, so processing or access from third countries cannot be ruled out. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing website content in additional languages (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Further information is available in the GTranslate privacy policy. If you do not want translation, do not select another language.

Cookies and similar technologies

WordPress may set technically necessary cookies, particularly for logged-in administrators. If you choose to save your details for later comments, a cookie is used to implement that choice. When embedded videos are activated, the relevant video provider may also use cookies or similar technologies. The GTranslate language switcher may use cookies or similar technologies when translation is used. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; this may limit individual functions.

Retention period

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the relevant purpose. We then delete it unless statutory retention obligations apply or the data is still required to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. The retention of technical logs is governed by the operational and security purposes described above.

Your rights

Subject to the statutory requirements, you have the following rights:

- Access to your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Withdrawal of consent with effect for the future

To exercise these rights, contact us at:

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
